Today, the Reynolds-Gregg team announced that Iowa Agriculture Secretary Bill Northey will serve as a State Co-Chair of their campaign. As Governor Reynolds and Lt. Governor Gregg travel the state Building a Better Iowa, their campaign is laying the groundwork for the 2018 campaign. Secretary Northey is the best Secretary of Ag in the nation, and has deep roots in all 99 counties.
Secretary Northey said “As Governor Reynolds and Lt. Governor Gregg ramp up their campaign for 2018, I’m proud to lend my support to the team as a Co-Chair of the campaign. Governor Reynolds and Lt. Governor Gregg are a great leadership team for the state, and have a true focus on each and every one of our 99 counties. As I visit with folks in the Agriculture community around Iowa, they know, as I do, that Governor Reynolds and Lt. Governor Gregg will continue to fight for a vibrant rural Iowa, where main streets in cities large and small are growing. I believe in their vision and their ability to take Iowa to the next level, and I’m proud to stand with them today.
Governor Reynolds stated, “Secretary Northey will do a tremendous job as a state co-chair. He is an active farmer and tireless advocate for agriculture. The Secretary deeply understands our steadfast focus on building strong rural communities across the state. His international trade expertise also is valued as we continually promote Iowa’s quality products and trusted brand abroad.”
The Governor went on to say, “Who better to have as a partner than our Secretary of Ag who has served the state since 2006. He authentically connects with Iowans and has deep roots in all 99 counties. The Secretary is a passionate champion for farmers, ranchers and agriculture professionals of all ages. We are extremely pleased to have him on our team.”
Lt. Governor Gregg said “Secretary Northey is an outstanding public servant with an unwavering commitment to his constituents. Gov. Reynolds and I have worked well with him for years, and we are pleased to have him in support of our campaign, as we lay the groundwork for the 2018 election. We’re focused on keeping Iowa as a national leader in education, job growth, and quality of governance, and having Secretary Northey in support of our efforts is an invaluable asset. We are thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
Additional State Co-Chairs will be announced in the coming weeks. Last week, the Reynolds-Gregg team announced staff and digital upgrades, and earlier this week announced the support of over 1,050 county chairs in all 99 counties.
